Hi, I’m Mallory!
A bit about me …
I’ve always had a passion for both the arts and for making positive change in communities. After earning a BFA in Theatre Design & Production from the University of Michigan, it is now my mission to utilize my creative skills to address accessibility and sustainability issues in the costuming world.
In my free time you can find me trying new baking recipes, knitting sweaters, or at the lake swimming. I also enjoy arts criticism and formerly wrote for the TV beat of the Michigan Daily Newspaper. You can read my work here.
Why Costuming?
To me, costuming is the most human focused of the theatre disciplines. I love that costuming presents the opportunity to connect with creative teams and performers while bringing their visions to life. Costumes can create an entire life for characters, and I love how a single accessory or color choice can hold the biggest meaning. Plus I love creating quick-change magic onstage for audiences!
My PHILOSOPHY
I’m dedicated to telling stories through costuming that resonate with performers and audiences alike. I aim to be detail oriented, adaptable, and collaborative throughout the design process in order to make it as efficient as possible. I want performers to feel safe and empowered in their costumes, and to cultivate welcoming costume shop spaces. I approach my work with an emphasis on sustainability, accessibility, and inclusivity in the hopes that my designs inspire conversations and connections within local communities.
